Motus is an eclectic seven-piece group that blends jazz, neo soul, funk, fusion and R&B stylings.
Originally founded as the folk-rock band Momo Grace in 2015, the group performed throughout Washington state for two years and released two albums. The band went through many transitions following folk artist and songwriter Zach Kutkey’s departure from the group.
In 2017, they welcomed Troy Bohman (bass), Tim Zilar (guitar), Rebekah Way (alto sax), and Jeanie Marinella (vocals, percussion). The band set off in a completely new direction to become Motus, performing styles ranging from thought-provoking ballads to backbeat funk and fusion. Motus is influenced by many of today’s contemporary jazz, R&B, neo-soul, and hip-hop groups and producers. They find inspiration in socially and politically conscious music and aim to compose songs that are in the same vein.
